Discussions

Hey, just wanted to start something new here - a place for discussions. You pick the topic and then let's talk about it. We all need encouragement and what better place to get it than fellow sisters!? So, what shall we talk about???

P.S.
And if you want to sign at least your first name, we'll be able to keep everyone straight...maybe! :-)

One Worry at A Time

Worry is such a nasty creature. I know I’m not suppose to, but not doing it is harder than knowing I shouldn’t. Are you ever a "Worry Wort?"

About a month after I received the shipment of my book, I was sitting on my bed praying. As I stared at the massive stack of brown boxes towering toward the ceiling and thought about the other mammoth mound stowed in the closet, I cried out to the Lord and asked Him how He was going to "get rid of" over 5,000 books. This was not going to be an easy task.

I was worried. You might even say I was getting increasingly discouraged, depressed, and heavy-hearted with the magnitude of the whole marketing aspect. It’s a lot of work and if you don’t know that much about it, it looks even grimmer. But you know how God is - faithful even when we are not, in complete control even when we think things are out of control, and right on time even when we think He’s late.

So what was His answer to my plea? "One book at a time." That may sound rather obvious, but to me it was a reminder that He would take care of it. And He is. He has put me into contact with some really great people who are helping me with the ins and outs of marketing. And books are slowly selling – one at a time. Isn’t God faithful? When I least expect it, He brings someone across my path to bless my socks off.

"The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth forever: forsake not the works of thine own hands." (Psa. 138:8)

God is trying to simplify my life and all I do is complicate the matter. I worry about things. He says, "Cast your cares on Me." I stress over the fact of getting the word out about the book and unbeknownst to me, God is getting the word out through people I never thought of and some I’ve never even met. I have yet to learn God’s timing is perfect – I worry about getting the books out and God says we’ll get them out one book at a time. I worry about the books that are out on review and I’m not getting any feed back, God says, "In my time."

Everything is all about God’s perfect, complete and totally informed time. Period. "…I the LORD will hasten it in his time." (Isa. 60:22) "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven:" (Eccl. 3:1)

So when you start to worry about something…anything at all, don’t. Instead cast your worrying on the Lord. Trust Him to handle everything, and in His perfect timing, because He is fully capable of handling all our "what if’s," "how come’s," "how am I ever’s," and "ahhhhhhhh! help me’s." But unfortunately giving up our worrying doesn’t happen overnight, but thankfully through the Lord’s strength and by His power we can overcome our apprehension, anxiety and trepidation ONE WORRY AT A TIME.

Currently Serving

Just to bring everyone up to date as to what is happening in my life right now, I’ll give you a brief summary.

I am currently living with and taking care of my grandmother who has Alzheimer’s Disease. My mom is also living with us and Dad comes on the weekends. While she is physically healthy, it is unsafe for her to live alone. The disease is about in its middle stages. We have been with her since March of this year and it’s a blessing to see how God has used us to bless her.

I lived with her for a year in 2001 for companionship and I truly believe God used it as a time to lay a foundation in our relationship, as we didn’t really know each other that well before. Isn’t it awesome how God always has a plan and always knows what’s coming next in our lives and how best to prepare us for those events? Our job is to trust Him enough to follow His leading.

Please pray for her salvation – that God would allow a moment of clarity so she might put her trust in Him for eternal life. I know seeds have been planted and I also know that nothing is impossible for God to make the increase. Please also pray that we would have the strength and wisdom to give her the very best care.

My encouragement to you as you serve God in your singleness is not to lose heart! "Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart." (2 Cor. 4:1, NASB) :-)
